Shaping the community and neighbourhood

Our vision, which inspires us

Cities and communities are actively shaped by the people who live in them.

  • They call attention to their needs and interests,
  • negotiate solutions together,
  • create spaces to meet and interact,
  • ensure socially disadvantaged people’s voices are heard,
  • counteract situations of social disadvantage,
  • and take our environment and future generations into account in the spirit of sustainability.

In practice, this means

Around 25 employees and over 40 volunteers collaborate eye to eye with people in the neighbourhood, district or community.

  • We put people, whose concerns are not sufficiently acknowledged, in a position where their voices are heard and help shape the future.
  • We build bridges between different people and parties, creating opportunities for social and cultural participation.
  • We support local initiatives and civic engagement, promoting self-organisation and skills development.
  • We initiate processes to help shape the community and neighbourhood, and provide support in the use and appropriation of public and communal spaces.

Social justice and inclusion are particularly important to us. In all our interactions with residents, we set ourselves apart through our participatory, real-world approach.

From a local to a European level

Our projects take effect in various social and spatial contexts - on a local, regional and European level. We are driven by a will to raise awareness for the social realities of disadvantaged people, and to help establish more inclusion, social justice and coexistence based on solidarity.
