Diversified spheres of action and expertise
Active participation is at the forefront of our neighbourhood work: from the supervision of new residential areas and neighbourhoods, involvement in transformation processes, and setting up housing groups and communal living, to opening up social housing options for vulnerable people. Living, life as a community and designing lively neighbourhoods are what it’s all about - always in cooperation with residents and local decision makers.
Our projects encourage interactions between generations by addressing the needs of children, adolescents and the elderly. Additionally, we encourage intercultural exchange and support those with migration backgrounds in starting out and living in Austria. For us, social participation encompasses health-promoting action, as well as opportunities for ecologically sustainable living and business practices. Therefore, Caritas district work supports initiatives for resource preservation, climate-friendly mobility and sustainable development, with particular regard for lower-income communities.
Shaping social innovations, cooperating with stakeholders to develop strategies and recommended action, and publishing findings: Caritas district work and its activities frequently stand at the intersection between applied research and development.
